How to work with the cricket frass?

Row crops and raised beds:

Put up to 1 kg of the frass per every 4 sq. meters area. Dig in and cover it with soil. It has to be covered with 15-20 cm soil. After that water thoroughly. Top dress with the insect frass two times per month and spray with water. Use a foliar to cover the leafs of the plants. Use a dechlorinated water (chlorinated water kills the beneficial microorganisms in the frass/foliar).

Mixture for a soil or for potted plants:

Mix 1 cup of cricket frass in a bucket with approx. dimensions 30x30x30cm). Top dress the plants or root drench two times per month. Spray with foliar every week. Use a dechlorinated water (chlorinated water kills the beneficial microorganisms in the frass/foliar).

Root drench with a cricket frass extract:

Add 1 cup of cricket frass per 6 liters of dechlorinated water. Leave the mixture to dissolve for 8 hours and mix periodically. Apply monthly or when it is needed. Use the extract within 2 hours after the mixture is ready or store in a refrigerator for 1 week. Do not store at room temperature.

Foliar

1-2 tsp. per 3 liters of dechlorinated water. Apply weekly for best results. Do not apply under direct sunlight. It is recommended to apply it early in the morning during spring days. Spray the foliar over and under the leafs. Use within 2 hours after the mixture is ready.

Hydroponic mixture:

Put one cup of cricket frass for every six liters of water. Keep the pH from 5,5 to 6,5. Use organic acids for best results (vinegar, lemon juice, compost tea and other) If you are using a reverse osmosis system, add some calcium and iron. Provide good aerobic conditions in the reservoir. The microorganisms require a lot of oxygen in order to be activated and to maintain their activity. Keep the temperature of the mixture below 27 degC. Provide good aerobic conditions in the reservoir 24 hours/day. * The oxygen levels should be twice higher in comparison to the chemical based mixtures.

Hydroponic additive:

1-2 tbsp. of cricket frass per 3 liters of nutrient solution. Keep a good aeration.

Compost tea:

2 tsp. cricket frass per 3 liters of dechlorinated water for usage as a nutrient ingredient for fungal food source. The cricket frass can be used as a substitute for a fish hydrolysate. Optional ingredients: 14ml kelp & 30ml Humic Acids; Perform an active aeration for 24-48 hours and apply as a root drench and foliar spray. Keep the tea well aerated before applying on the plants.
